Select the Web address above to get more information on the phenomenon that is the Concordia Language Villages. Every summer, 6,000 kids aged seven through 18 converge on scenic Turtle River Lake outside of Bemidji, Minnesota. For one-, two- or four-week sessions, students live in architecturally faithful “villages” from around the world where they hear and speak nothing but Spanish, German, French, Norwegian or one of 10 other global languages. As students in the Masters Program, we spend two summers in residence at the Concordia Language Villages. It is a life changing experience as a teacher to witness firsthand as the Language Villages accomplish in days what language teachers strive to accomplish in years.

Select the Web address above to get more information on planning tours with your students. I’m not getting any money for advertising for this company but I’ve used them twice and always with exceptional results. They provide everything including: airfare, transportation, nice hotels, two meals per day, and exceptional tour guides who really go beyond the extra mile. The daily agenda usually features educational tours during the early morning and afternoon followed by a visit to a fun activity or venue to unwind and after dinner, I always have time to spend with my students exploring on our own or just relaxing.
